Hi there fellow CT/MA musicians and music enthusiasts, I'm here now on behalf of an incredible (and local) guitar-driven fusion band known as Upstream, featuring Frank Varela on guitar, Bob Laramie on electric bass, and Ricky Marshall on drums. If you're from the CT area (as I'd imagine many here are), they host an outstanding jazz open jam night every Sunday at the Hartford Road Cafe in Manchester from 7pm to 10pm. I have been following their music for a while now and have also developed/designed their current website as one of my first professional projects. I received permission from their guitarist to do a bit of online promotion, in a sense, so here I am. Anyway, they have a CD out called "Grandma's Revenge" under the name Frank Varela, which is in my opinion one of the best kept secrets on the fusion/jazz-rock scene, and they regularly play in CT. Additionally, their guitarist does a solo show on Fridays at Ginza in Wethersfield, CT, where he plays guitar with his hands and bass guitar and a bit of tambourine with his feet. He calls it the "One Man Trio". If you'd like to check out their website, it exists currently at either www.frankvarela.com or www.upstreamjazz.com. I definitely recommend them to fans of guitarists like Larry Coryell and George Benson, and anyone who likes guitar virtuosos, and powerful and driving jazz-fusion jam bands. Thank you all very much for your time. Angelina Park (A Frank Varela original) - Grandma's Revenge (Another Frank Varela original) - A compilation of songs by the aforementioned "One Man Trio" -
