Sponsorship

Anyone have any suggestions on sponsorship for a cover/party band? My band just got back together, and we're making a go if it. We always did everything on our own in the past. I've been told that you have to play bare minimum 4 times a month to get a sponsorship. But I see plenty of band websites that are sponsored and don't have so many shows on their website. Other than our recent break, our band has been together for six years.
I would really like posters, and giveaway stuff for our band. We funded that ourselves in the past. Just looking for a better way.

You have to prove to whoever is sponsoring you that it will benefit them to sponsor you. That's why the 4 show a month minimum is usually in place. If you can prove that you play big enough shows to promote whoever you are being sponsored by in less than 4 shows, then you'll need to be able to show that. No one is going to give you stuff for free just because they're being nice. There has to be a benefit on both sides to make it worth it.
