What's everyone playing?
I'm currently using a Schecter Stilletto 4 string with a Behringer Ultrabass head and an SWR 1X15 Workingman's Cab. Getting great tones.

I posted a little of my gear on another thread, but here goes. Warwick Thumb 5 (neckthrough) into a Presonus comp/limiter, then to a BBE Sonic Maximizer. Then the signal splits to the PA and then to my amp, which is a Hartke 3500 with a SWR 2x10 and Trace Elliot 1x15. The amp itself is more or less a monitor for on stage. I'm thinking of building a little 1x12 or even 1x10 wedge to use instead. Not sure.

Sound like you're playing some big rooms. Might be a dumb question, but what band are you in?
By the way, some will say that mixing and matching cabs and heads doesn't work, but I say it's a great way to get a custom sound. I don't even own two of the same thing!

That's a funny question. I'm kinda between bands right now. I was playing guitar for the Sellouts for a while, but my last show with them is this Sat at Murphy & Scarletti's. But I played bass for SideShow ( www.sideshowband.com ) and we've been toying with the idea of starting the band back up, so I'm wondering if I should do the wedge idea or not. Right now we're pretty much only doing weddings.

If only you could've posted a bigger pic, hehe. Haha, it's actually quite a small powerhouse. It seems like lately, the trend in bass seems to be going towards the smaller, more powerful amps. Say thank you to Musician's Friend for the big pic.

Mike, I saw you play at the band slam. I'm Jeff from Jive Miguel. We played right after you. Cool bass, man.

How was the snow slam for you guys last night? I wanted to make it over there but it didn't pan out that way after we were done playing. Thanks on the bass. I do love the Pedullas.

Slam went great. And speaking of gear, the bass player in Tim MacDonald's band (who went right before us) had this sweet Sadowsky 5 String. Had to be a $3,000 bass. Sounded great too. Hope it went well for you guys too.

Would have been better if they gave us a PA with something bigger than a 12" in it and because of the space at the Standing Stone, I had to run direct. Would have been a bit better with 15's.

I played drums with Mike at the grand band slam show actually ;D That was a fun show, plus thet Ampeg they had in the backline wasn't too bad either, and we didn't have to move that monster. Haha, it's actually quite a small powerhouse. It seems like lately, the trend in bass seems to be going towards the smaller, more powerful amps. Say thank you to Musician's Friend for the big pic. Yeah, that's my plan with building that wedge. It'll still be rack mount and cab, just a fraction of the size. I think that seems to be the trend. It used to be that you needed a stack (well it still looks cool) but now it's really not necessary. Actually most people that do sound love the lower stage volume. The only one that needs to hear it is you.

I agree, small amps are great. I hate it when I see guys wheeling a 8X10 Hartke cab into a place like the Hungry Tiger in Manchester. When I bought my new setup (see first post), I was going for portability. It's very important that I can put every single thing I need into the backseat of my little mazda. It's all I got. My new setup is a punch machine, very light and cost effective.
