Well, I think I've finally gotten my original project off the ground. Now comes the issue of finding someplace to play. We've been collectively at this a while, so we'd like to avoid the pay-to-play/sell our tickets and get no cash Webster and it's ilk. We've got a gig opening for a "well-known" local band, but sometimes those can be tough gigs to get and tougher to get good crowd reactions. Any suggestions? Anybody need an opener? Anybody want to give me $1,000?
If you're curious (which you probably aren't), we're a Stonesy, garage-type, 100% un-hip band.

Congrats on getting the band together. I know how bad you wanted to get that started!

I think Toad's Place is back open. I'd send them a demo and see if they can get you on a bill.

That means I probably have to come up with an electronic press kit. What would this entail?
It's good to finally get this off the ground. It's more of a project band at this point, so a once every 4-6 weeks gig schedule and tons of writing and recording should be plenty. I've got some other irons in the fire to keep busy.

An electronic press kit (EPK) can consist of a few different things. Put together a page that has audio samples, a bio and pics of the band. That would be the simplest solution. I can help you if you need it.

Hey, It takes a little time but I set up an EPK for StraddleDaddy through Sonicbids. www.sonicbids.com/They will give you 1 month for free and then it's about $50 a year. I love having it and it saves us the cost of mailing out CD's and promotional stuff. Check out what it looks like ... www.sonicbids.com/straddledaddyI just sent the link to Toads so I'll let you know how it turns out...

My band needs a flowmaster!
I'm even trying to contact the Webster against my better judgement.
