A group of us went out this past Saturday night (6/2) and caught some great metal at Up Or On The Rocks. We then left to go check out the other bars at midnight and guess what... every bar in the area was 90% empty. Wow, never seen it that bad in my life. Goes to show that Hartford clubs and promoters are doing a worse job every year. I can't blame them 100% though. The economy up here is rotten, the poeple that go out to clubs really don't know how to be chill and enjoy a night, they would rather front attitudes and fight rather then party and make new friends. All the while in other states the clubs/bars are full everyday, but than again that's at places where actual tourists come to visit and party. There's no call and probably never will be for anyone to ever travel from anywhere to visit CT, especially with all the crime and lack of caring that we shine our cities with.

I agree, all of the live venues have either stopped having live bands, have shut down, or have stopped really trying to do a good job. I'm not sure why. Hartford used to be a happening town. And it's not like there's any shortage of good bands in the state. It just seems that most bars in that area opted for the cheaper bands which usually are not as good and the bars have gained reputations of not having good live music. So people stopped going out as much. Now they rely on DJs who can only do so much. It's a downward spiral. And it sucks because there are good bands that play in Hartford, but no one pays as much attention now.

That and the fact that they rotate the same 10 or so bands whose set lists are 80% identical. Like this weeks "Jessies Girl" is going to be any better than next weeks. I think the bar owners or the booking agents have stopped trying to do a good job. You're hitting the nail right on the head there John, I wish someone would hit something else on the head and get the scene straightened out. Though there are some good bands here and there, you have to dig for it though.
