City Sports Rock is a *huge* improvement over the old Sports Rock USA. The entire place has been redone with booths, televisions, one LARGE screen TV, a new bar, a great menu, pool tables, dart boards, clean restrooms, etc. The stage is in the corner where it used to be at Sports Rock and there's plenty of room. There is a house sound system with a Mackie Board (12 channels??) and house speakers suspended from the ceiling. I don't think there are any subs. And there are definitely NO monitors. So, I would highly recommend you bring your own sound. There is no sound guy and we were told via Tannenbaum that the house system was mainly for the DJ. Not even sure if they have mic cables either, so relying on the house system for a band might leave you hanging. There are also 2 rows of light cans with maybe 10 cans on each row. They are controlled via a dimmer near the mixer. No individual controls on these - just OFF, A Fade for variable brightness, and I think there's an auto setting that alternates lights. Oh, and they all face towards the right side of the stage, so I was in the spotlight all night and our bass player was in the dark. Humph. The room is a loud one, so be sure to keep volumes at a minimum at first to gauge the room. The manager there requested that we kept our levels reasonable (i.e. don't blast the hell out of the place) and was very pleased that we complied. All in all, we had fun and will be back there soon! Very cool, yeah we made sure we got a sound guy for the night. I'm looking forward to seeing how it is now. Sounds like it's much better. Definitely let me know next time you're there, it's pretty close to me.
